San José Arena
(HP Pavilion)

David
J. Powers & Associates, Inc. prepared the San Jose Arena Facility (currently
known as the HP Pavilion) EIR. This EIR addressed the construction of
a 20,000-seat community arena at three alternative locations. The arena
accommodates a variety of different events ranging from ice hockey and
basketball to concerts and other community events. The EIR contained
a comprehensive list of impacts and mitigation measures for each of the
three sites. The primary impacts evaluated in the EIR included the following:
land use compatibility, traffic, circulation, parking, air quality, noise,
soils and geology, hydrology, hazardous materials, cultural resources
and urban services.
After the certification of the EIR, the City of San Jose proposed minor
modifications to the arena. Our firm was again contracted by the City
of San Jose to prepare an Addendum to the Final EIR. We completed the
preparation of the Final Supplemental EIR that addressed changes to the
arena facility parking program. As part of the preparation of the environmental
document, David J. Powers & Associates, Inc. assisted the City of San
Jose in preparing a pedestrian and parking monitoring program for the
San Jose Arena.
