As a certified Green Business, David J. Powers & Associates demonstrates our dedication to reducing waste, pollution, and resource consumption. Some of our environmentally responsible practices include purchasing recycled paper products and office supplies, printing double-sided and on scratch paper, sending electronic documents rather than paper copies when possible, utilizing reusable dishware and utensils, recycling all paper, bottles, cans, and plastic containers, and composting food waste. The lights and bathroom sinks in our office have motion sensors, which conserve water and energy. To further reduce energy use, the lighting fixtures use T-8 fluorescent lamps, and all copiers and printers are set to go into sleep mode when not utilized for a certain length of time. In addition to conserving resources and reducing pollution, we believe that being a Green Business saves our company money, improves our operational efficiency, and creates a healthier work place.
The Bay Area Green Business Program was developed by local governments in collaboration with the US EPA, Cal EPA Department of Toxic Substances Control, and the business community. The Green Business Program distinguishes small businesses that conserve energy and water,minimize waste, prevent pollution, and shrink their carbon footprints.

You may have worked with Akoni when he was Principal Planner for the City of San Jose, where for the past 7 years he was responsible for the City's preparation of CEQA and NEPA documents, as well as managing the City's environmental review, historic preservation, urban runoff management, and green building policy programs. He also served as lead City staff in the Santa Clara Valley Habitat Conservation Plan process.
Akoni received a Bachelor's Degree in Geological and Environmental Sciences from Stanford University and a Master's Degree in City and Regional Planning from the University of California at Berkeley. Since its founding in 1972, David J.
